Glycerol-3-phosphate (G3P) acyltransferases (GPAT; EC, such as GPAM and GPAT3 (this enzyme), catalyze the initial step of de novo triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis by converting glycerol-3-phosphate (G3P) to lysophosphatidic acid (LPA).[6]
