A Closer Look at MLP’s “Mane” Cast
Originally released in 2010, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic took the world by storm with its fresh take on the beloved My Little Pony franchise. The show follows unicorn Twilight Sparkle and her friends Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy (also known as the “Mane Six”) across their adventures in Equestria as they learn more about friendship and what it means to be a good friend.
Twilight Sparkle
A bookworm to a fault, unicorn Twilight Sparkle is sent to Ponyville at the start of the series with her pet dragon, Spike. Known for wisdom, knowledge, and her immense talent for magic, Twilight spends the series learning more and more about friendship during her adventures in Equestria.
Applejack
Remembered for her trademark southern accent, Applejack is an earth pony who helps manage her family’s apple farm in Ponyville. Although she can be a bit stubborn sometimes, Applejack’s hard-working nature, diligence, and honesty become her defining traits throughout the series.
Rarity
Based in Ponyville like the other Mane Six, Rarity is a glamorous unicorn with a passion for fashion, style, and anything that glitters and gleams. Despite her focus on outward appearances, Rarity is known for her kind and generous spirit throughout the course of the series.
Rainbow Dash
From her iconic rainbow mane and tail to her speedy exploits across the sky, Rainbow Dash is a hard character to forget. A fast-flying pegasus with a cool name to match, Rainbow Dash is as confident and self-assured as they come—but despite her bravado, she’s a loyal friend who cares a lot for the other ponies in her life.
Pinkie Pie
Her name says it all—as a pink earth pony with a bouncy mane and an even bouncier personality, Pinkie Pie dedicates every waking moment to making the other ponies around her smile and laugh. When she isn’t baking sweet treats or planning an epic party, she can be found laughing it up with her friends (and possibly breaking into song).
Fluttershy
Fluttershy is a pegasus who lives up to her name. Unlike her high-flying friend Rainbow Dash, the kind-hearted Fluttershy flies low to the ground and cares for all of the animals in and around Ponyville. Although she’s timid and soft-spoken at a glance, Fluttershy isn’t afraid to stand up for friends in times of trouble.
