Who’s Who in Wednesday
Wednesday is a new teen series based on The Addams Family that’s streaming on Netflix. The first 8-episode season debuted on November 23, 2022, and the series was officially renewed for a second season. Read on for a list of the cast and characters, but beware, there are spoilers ahead!
Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday Addams. She’s sent to Nevermore Academy after putting piranhas in the pool at her last school as revenge against the boys who bullied her younger brother, Pugsley. Though her parents attended Nevermore and fell in love there, Wednesday has no desire to attend a school full of outcasts with special powers and makes every attempt to shun those who try to get close to her.
Emma Myers plays the role of Enid Sinclair, Wednesday’s dorm-mate and eventual friend. Enid is a werewolf, but her abilities don’t appear until the end of season one when she fights the Hyde to protect the innocent.
Joy Sunday portrays Bianca Barclay, the queen bee of Nevermore. While Bianca and Wednesday initially clash, by the end of the first season, they work together to defeat Joseph Crackstone and protect the rest of their peers.
Percy Hynes White plays Xavier Thorpe, a popular boy who tries to help Wednesday, despite her off-putting demeanor. Xavier can animate drawings and dreams of true events, causing Wednesday to suspect that he’s the monster terrorizing Jericho.
Hunter Doohan portrays Tyler Galpin. While Tyler is depicted as a “normie,” or citizen of Jericho without special powers, in the end, it’s revealed that he’s a type of monster called a Hyde, just like his mother. He’s the one who’s been committing murders and attacking students all along!
Moosa Mostafa plays Eugene Ottinger, a nerdy boy who teams up with Wednesday to solve the case of the murdering monster. He’s always got her back, as they’re the only two members of the Hummers, Eugene’s beekeeping club.
Gwendoline Christie plays the role of Principal Larissa Weems. Principal Weems attended Nevermore as a student and was Morticia Addams’ roommate. In the series, she sacrifices herself to protect Wednesday from Laurel Gates.
Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams in the films The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values, appears in Wednesday as Marilyn Thornhill. Miss Thornhill is Wednesday and Enid’s dorm mom and their botanical science teacher at Nevermore Academy. It turns out that Marilyn Thornhill is actually a fake identity, and she’s really Laurel Gates, a descendant of Joseph Crackstone and the one who tortures Tyler to get him to turn into the Hyde monster in order to rid the town of all the outcasts.
Additionally, the rest of the Addams family guest stars, with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, and George Valentin Burcea as Lurch. Victor Dorobantu plays the role of Thing, and helps Wednesday on her quests to make friends, uncover secrets, and get to the bottom of the mysteries at Nevermore.
